Best Men’s styles for Summer

We had a look through pretty much all the popular men’s hairstyles and chose these as our Summer favourites.

  1. The Peaky Blinder

peaky blinders

Going nowhere anytime soon, this cut with it’s shaved short sides and length on top with a defined edge is still one of the biggest styles for Summer.

2. Longish and Layered

Layered-Long-Hair

Again it’s been around for some time but this cut os perfect for Summer if you like to surf or spend time on the beach, easily styled with some salt spray and a matt paste.

3. Modern Textured Crop

textured crop

A slight twist on the classic textured crop as this style has shorter sides and a little bit of length left on the fringe area, but still very textured through the top.  Perfect if you want to update your style without too much of a change.

4. Blunt Fringe with Fade

Texture-Crop-with-Tight-Medium-Fade-650x650

A bit more of an extreme look than the modern textured crop but if you’re brave enough this is most definitely the style of the season.  It can be customised by altering the length of the fringe and the texture/bluntness of the fringe, also the fade doesn’t necessarily need to be that tight, but we say if you’re going to do it you might as well go for it, it’ll grow back soon enough!

Milan Fashion Week – The Hair

m

As Paris Fashion week gets under way we thought we’d take a look at the most wearable hair styles from Milan fashion week.  There was a strong continuation of the pony tail, seen at a few shows both sleek and messy but our favourite was the textured pony tails at Burberry styled by Sam Mcknight, definitely one we can work out how to do ourselves and it looks great for both smart and casual.

Another favourite look of ours was the loose waves seen at Fendi, again styled by Sam Mcknight these waves look effortless and a follow on from the air drying trend we expect to see this Spring/Summer.

With both of those looks being so natural it was nice to see a bit of bright colour at Versace.  Wella global creative director Josh Wood added strands of vibrant colour to the models hair making it just that bit more exciting and adding a bit of brightness to an otherwise natural looking style.

The best thing about all these looks is they can all be adapted for Spring/Summer so if you can’t wait till Autumn/Winter it’s fine just start now!

London Fashion Week – The Hair

lfw

As London fashion week comes to a close, we look at our favourite hair looks from all of the shows and have a look at what will be big hair wise for AW17.
We saw natural waves both on and off the catwalk this year, and it seems this soft well loved style isn’t going anywhere in 2017 so keep hold of your wave wand!  We also noticed that the centre part one of the  most notable styles for the last few seasons was back in full force this season, especially when worked with the super sleek pony tails we saw last week in New York.

Wet look finger waves were the order of the day at Judy Wu, a continuation of the baby hair trend, just pushed a little further.

We also particularly liked the hair at Antonio Berardi, textured, tousled waves with braids woven in, and knots worked through the texture of the waves.

Overall the hair looks that we think we will be wearing in AW 17 will be the knotted braids and the sleek pony tails.

The Importance of Colour Safety

Hair colour reactions are rare and only occur within a small number of people however with studies and reports of allergic reactions to hair colour on the increase I thought you might like the risks explained and to know how best to avoid a hair colour reaction.

Firstly what causes an allergic reaction?

Your immune system protects you from bacteria and viruses and sometimes it mistakes a harmless substance for a threat and starts your body’s immune response. Unfortunately for hair colour, it seems the molecules that make up the colour seem to fit perfectly into your body’s receptors and can cause an allergic reaction. Allergic reactions can be very severe or even fatal so it’s important that we try to avoid them happening as much as we possibly can.

How do we avoid an allergic reaction?

The first thing we can do is an ALLERGY ALERT TEST this will tell you if you are allergic or have any sensitivity to the colouring products your stylist is going to use.

Screen Shot 2015-07-24 at 22.26.55

An ALLERGY ALERT TEST is carried out in the salon 48hrs before your appointment, it takes less than 10 mins and is complimentary, your stylist will talk to you about your colour and what you are looking to achieve and together you can decide on the right colouring products and shades for your look. Your stylist will then mix a small amount of these colours and apply them in tiny dabs on the inside of your elbow. AND THAT’S IT! So long as you don’t experience a reaction in the 48hrs following your allergy alert test, you are good to colour your hair.

Koleston-Perfect-Innosense-Web

The second thing we can do is choose colouring products which actively reduce the risk of developing an allergy such as Koleston Innosense, it uses a revolutionary new colour molecule called ME+ which has been awarded the FIRST EVER European Centre for Allergy Research Foundation SEAL ON PERMANENT COLOUR WITH UP TO 100 % GREY COVERAGE AND 3 LEVELS OF LIFT. Safe and effective, what more could you want from your hair colour?!

So when is an ALLERGY ALERT TEST NEEDED?

You will need to be allergy tested 48hrs before your first colour appointment and just once a year following that if your colour is saying the same. If you want to change your colour brand or the shades used you will need to be re-tested with the new colours, you will also need to be re-tested if you have had a tattoo since your last appointment or if it has been more than 6 months since you last had your hair coloured in the salon. If you are not sure if you need an ALLERGY ALERT TEST call the salon before your appointment and have a chat with your stylist they will tell you what you need to do, also if you are concerned for any reason it is completely fine to be allergy tested 48hrs before every colour appointment.

HAPPY HAIR COLOURING!
